The clean distinction

The mortgage CRM handles everything BEFORE the loan goes into production and AFTER it closes. The LOS handles everything DURING. The loan file is the boundary.

How the two integrate

A real mortgage stack has the CRM and the LOS talking to each other. When a lead in the CRM is ready to apply, the data flows to the LOS to start the loan file. When the loan funds in the LOS, the contact in the CRM gets tagged as “funded” so the post-close drip campaign starts automatically. The bi-directional sync is what makes the two systems feel like one.

BNTouch integrates with Encompass, LendingPad, BytePro, Calyx Point, Arive, and Floify. Other CRMs have varying levels of LOS integration depth. Always validate the LOS connector quality before committing.

Can one tool do both?

Some platforms try. ICE Mortgage Technology bundles Encompass (LOS) with Surefire (CRM). Their pitch is single-vendor convenience. The trade-off: when both your CRM and LOS are owned by the same company, your data, integration priorities, and roadmap all serve that company first. Independent CRMs (BNTouch) connect to whatever LOS you choose without bias.

Which one do you actually need first?

For most solo LOs and small shops, the LOS is non-negotiable (you cannot originate a loan without it). The CRM is the upgrade that becomes necessary once you cross the past-client and pipeline-volume thresholds described in our companion article.

For wholesale lenders, brokerages with multiple LOs, and high-volume retail shops, both are needed from day one. The CRM is where the lead lives until they convert into a loan; the LOS is where the loan lives until it funds.

Frequently asked

Is Encompass a CRM?

Encompass is primarily a LOS. ICE Mortgage Technology built a CRM module called Encompass CRM, which is being sunset in 2025 with customers migrated to Surefire (also ICE-owned). If you are an Encompass LOS customer, you have a choice: use Surefire as your CRM (single-vendor) or use an independent mortgage CRM that integrates with Encompass.

Can BNTouch replace my LOS?

No. BNTouch is a mortgage CRM, not a LOS. You will still need Encompass, LendingPad, BytePro, Calyx, Arive, or Floify to actually originate loans. BNTouch integrates with all of these.

What if I use Arive or LendingPad?

Both are supported BNTouch integrations. The CRM connects to whichever LOS you use, and the data flows in both directions: leads in CRM push to LOS at application time, funded loans in LOS push back to CRM for post-close marketing.
